Pine nuts from the stone pine cone I collected.
This big pod didn't have any nut inside. Stone pines grow in the Mediterranean and would not be able to produce viable seed in this climate. However a viable seed brought from holiday would grow hence the presence of this fantastic tree!
Compare this to the black pine seeds I posted a pic of last year and the difference is amazing.
Apparently the nuts of stone pine are a delicacy so I was disappointed not to find some inside.
Oh well just have to buy some in tesco and pretend.
