Birch bark disease.
Hi,
I seem to have developed some kind of affliction were all of my trouser pockets have birch bark in them is this something I should visit the doctor for?

Nah, don't bother mate; it's incurable! Just make sure you keep your strike-anywhere matches in a separate place. It could become uncomfortable otherwise....
My heart sank when I started reading that title on my blog. I thought there was some new disease affecting Birches like Dutch Elm disease and the new one that's killing Oaks! Your affliction is at least bearable :-)
